Buttons

Add submit, reset, and action buttons to your forms.

Form creation requires a Pro plan or higher. Form filling is available on all plans.

Button Types

Submit Button

Send form data to a server:

  1. Select Button tool
  2. Draw the button
  3. Set action to Submit Form
  4. Configure URL and format

Reset Button

Clear all form fields:

  1. Select Button tool
  2. Draw the button
  3. Set action to Reset Form
  4. Choose which fields to reset

Action Button

Trigger custom actions:

  1. Select Button tool
  2. Draw the button
  3. Add one or more actions

Creating Buttons

  1. Enter Form Mode
  2. Select Button tool
  3. Click and drag to draw
  4. Set label and properties
  5. Configure actions

Button Appearance

Label

  • Text: Button label
  • Font: Typeface
  • Size: Font size
  • Color: Text color

Icon

Use an image as the button:

  1. Open properties
  2. Go to Options tab
  3. Click Choose Icon
  4. Select an image

Layout

Combine label and icon:

  • Label only
  • Icon only
  • Icon top, label bottom
  • Label top, icon bottom
  • Icon left, label right
  • Label left, icon right
  • Label over icon

States

Different appearance for button states:

  • Normal: Default appearance
  • Rollover: Mouse hover
  • Down: Mouse pressed

Button Actions

Submit Form

Send data to a URL:

  • URL: Destination address
  • Format: FDF, XFDF, HTML, PDF
  • Fields: All or selected fields

Reset Form

Clear form data:

  • All fields: Reset everything
  • Selected fields: Reset specific fields
  • Exclude fields: Reset all except specified

Other Actions

  • Go to page: Navigate within document
  • Open URL: Open a web page
  • Execute JavaScript: Run custom script
  • Show/Hide field: Toggle field visibility
  • Set field value: Change another field’s value

Multiple Actions

A button can trigger multiple actions in sequence:

  1. Open button properties
  2. Go to Actions tab
  3. Add multiple actions
  4. Arrange in order

Tips

  • Make buttons clearly clickable
  • Use descriptive labels
  • Add rollover effects for feedback
  • Test submit functionality thoroughly
  • Consider button placement for usability
