Measurement Tools

Measure distances, areas, and perimeters in your PDF documents.

Scale Calibration

Before measuring, calibrate the scale:

  1. Click MeasureCalibrate Scale
  2. Draw a line over a known distance
  3. Enter the actual measurement
  4. Select the unit (inches, cm, feet, etc.)
  5. Click Apply

Scale calibration is saved with the document and applies to all measurements.

Distance Measurement

Measure the distance between two points:

  1. Select the Distance tool
  2. Click the start point
  3. Click the end point
  4. The measurement displays automatically

Distance Display

  • Measurement shows along the line
  • Unit based on calibration
  • Includes label (optional)

Perimeter Measurement

Measure the perimeter of a shape:

  1. Select the Perimeter tool
  2. Click each vertex of the shape
  3. Double-click to close the shape
  4. Total perimeter displays

Perimeter Display

  • Shows total distance around shape
  • Each segment can show individual length
  • Closed automatically or manually

Area Measurement

Measure the area of a region:

  1. Select the Area tool
  2. Click each vertex of the area
  3. Double-click to close the shape
  4. Area displays in center

Area Display

  • Shows total area (square units)
  • Shape is highlighted
  • Perimeter also shown (optional)

Measurement Properties

Appearance

  • Line color: Color of measurement lines
  • Fill color: Fill for area measurements
  • Opacity: Transparency of fill
  • Line width: Thickness of lines

Labels

  • Show measurement: Display the value
  • Font size: Label text size
  • Decimal places: Precision (0-4)
  • Show units: Include unit label

Available units:

Managing Measurements

Edit

  1. Select the measurement
  2. Drag endpoints to adjust
  3. Or right-click → Properties

Delete

  1. Select the measurement
  2. Press Delete

Export

Export measurements to a report:

  1. Click MeasureExport
  2. Choose format (CSV, PDF)
  3. Save the file

Tips

  • Always calibrate before measuring
  • Zoom in for precision
  • Use snap to improve accuracy
  • Add multiple measurements to compare
