Quick Checklist
Before sending to print, verify:
- Correct page size and orientation
- Bleed area (if required)
- Fonts embedded
- Images at sufficient resolution
- Colors in CMYK (for commercial print)
- No transparency issues
- Preflight passed
Step-by-Step Guide
Check Page Size
- Click File → Properties → Pages
- Verify page dimensions match requirements
- Check all pages are consistent
Run Preflight
Identify potential issues:
- Click Tools → Preflight → Run Preflight
- Select Print Ready profile
- Click Analyze
- Review results
Fix Common Issues
Address any problems found:
Font issues:
- Embed all fonts: Tools → Fonts → Embed
Image issues:
- Check resolution: minimum 300 DPI for print
- Replace low-resolution images if needed
Color issues:

Bleed
If your design extends to the edge:
- Add 3mm (0.125”) bleed on all sides

Convert to PDF/X
For guaranteed print compatibility:
- Click Tools → Standards → Convert to PDF/X
- Select PDF/X-4 (recommended)
- Set output intent profile
- Click Convert
- Validate the result

- Keep a copy of your original file before flattening
- Ask your printer for a preflight profile if available
